Pimento Cheese

A Southern staple for well over a century — spread thick at church suppers, country clubs, and kitchen counters across the region — pimento cheese rarely gets the upgrade Sweet Grass Dairy gave it, a version that scored 99 out of 100 at the American Cheese Society Competition and took first place in the Flavored Cheese category. The secret is the base: instead of generic cheddar, the Thomasville, Georgia creamery folds shredded Thomasville Tomme, its own Pyrenees-style farmhouse wheel, with Sir Kensington’s mayonnaise, Spanish piquillo peppers, pimentón, and a house spice blend into a creamy, smoky, faintly spicy spread. Perfect for a cracker spread at cocktail hour, a burger that deserves better, or a spoon straight from the container when nobody’s looking.

The South’s Most Honored Artisan Cheese

Out of Thomasville, Georgia, Sweet Grass Dairy makes some of the most decorated artisan cheese in the American South, led by Green Hill, a luscious double-cream with a soft bloomy rind that has become the creamery's calling card. Jessica Little grew up on a dairy, learning from a mother who helped pioneer artisan cheesemaking in the Southeast; she and her husband Jeremy have spent two decades building on that foundation, earning more than 50 national and international honors from the American Cheese Society, the World Cheese Awards, and the Good Food Awards.

The range runs from Thomasville Tomme, aged 60 to 90 days in the style of a Pyrenees tomme, nutty and smooth, to Asher Blue, creamy enough to convert skeptics, to Georgia Gouda, a 2023 release that swept the major competitions in its first year. Sweet Grass Dairy's Southern cheese is shipped nationwide on Goldbelly, proof the South belongs on any cheese board.
