Poppy Seed Kolaches

Weikel’s Bakery’s award-winning sweet and soft Kolaches are the heart of their bakery. These poppy seed Kolaches are one of their most popular flavors. Each bite is bursting with the unique sweet nutty flavor of the poppy seeds.

What started as a small cafe opened by brothers Alvin and “Pop” Weikel in 1929 grew into a well-known restaurant called the Bon Ton Restaurant when Alvin’s son, Jim, joined the business. After Jim sold the restaurant in 1985, he opened Weikel’s Bakery with his wife Jo Ann in La Grange, Texas. Weikel’s Bakery makes award-winning Czech baked goods, including sweet and soft Kolaches and savory Klobasnikies (Pigs-in-a-Blanket).
