What started as a small cafe opened by brothers Alvin and “Pop” Weikel in 1929 grew into a well-known restaurant called the Bon Ton Restaurant when Alvin’s son, Jim, joined the business. After Jim sold the restaurant in 1985, he opened Weikel’s Bakery with his wife Jo Ann in La Grange, Texas. Weikel’s Bakery makes award-winning Czech baked goods, including sweet and soft Kolaches and savory Klobasnikies (Pigs-in-a-Blanket).

- On arrival, refrigerate or up to 3 days or freeze for longer periods
- May be kept on the countertop for 1 day, refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for 30 days
- If serving from frozen, Baked Goods are best when allowed to thaw at room temperature

The success of Weikel’s Bakery goes all the way to its roots, family traditions of entrepreneurship, hard work and a love for food unified through marriage. The family business started in 1929 with the opening of a small cafe which grew to a well-known restaurant called the Bon Ton Restaurant. After many years of success, in 1982, the Weikel’s opened the bakery with authentic Czech recipes passed down from mother to child over generations. These authentic recipes are still in use today capturing the pride and authenticity of the family’s Czech heritage.
The award-winning and well-known bakery has made a name for itself with its authentic Czech baked goods, especially kolaches. The unique soft and moist dough make Weikel’s Kolaches tender, delicate, and stay fresh for several days without the need for any added preservatives.
