Santa Fe Bite’s iconic green chile cheeseburger is unchanged since 1953! It starts with a huge, 10 ounce patty of fresh-ground custom blend chuck and sirloin, and it’s topped with melty Swiss-American cheese, chopped local Hatch green chiles, lettuce, and tomato and served on a fresh-baked garlic butter toasted brioche bun. This award-winning burger is truly as good as it gets!

In New Mexico, green Hatch chiles are king. One of the best ways to enjoy these super-flavorful, slightly spicy roasted chiles is atop a burger, and the undisputed king of the green chile cheeseburger is Santa Fe Bite. Originally founded on historic route 66 in 1953 as Bobcat Bite, the restaurant (and its signature burger) achieved renown far and wide before it was forced to relocate and change its name to Santa Fe Bite in 2013. Santa Fe Bite is today owned by longtime employees Angela Mason and Armando Rivas, who know that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

  • Package ships with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
  • Upon arrival, refrigerate all ingredients except the seasoning packet for up to 5 days.
  • Thaw wrapped ingredients completely in the refrigerator before preparing.

To Serve

  • Preheat the grill or cast iron pan to 375° F.
  • Remove burger patties from plastic and evenly season each patty on both sides with seasoning mix. Do not smash the patties.
  • Cook to desired temperature. (Approximately 5 minutes on each side for medium).
  • While patties are cooking, toast buttered buns on a hot grill or pan.
  • Wash tomato and lettuce leaves. Pat leaves dry between 2 paper towels and set aside.
  • Slice tomato into 1/4"-1/2" slices and set aside.
  • Top burger patties with 3 oz. green chile sauce and top with a slice of cheese to hold it in place.
  • Optional: Add 1.5 slices of bacon to each burger.
  • Serve & enjoy!
