Licorice Trio

Licorice Trio

A trio of licorice, each with its own personality. One bag is filled with bold Salmiak licorice—intensely salty and unmistakably Nordic—anchored by the famously strong Double Zout coins. Another offers a gentler take: sweet black licorice from the Netherlands, including Limburgse Cats and Skool Chalk, with a soft, mellow finish. The third, affectionately called Twists & Twirls in our shops, is a cheerful mix of red licorice—fruity Kookaburra twists and playful Haribo wheels.

Founded in California, inspired by Paris. Miette began with a stall at the farmers market, selling simple, beautiful cakes. Today we’re a small-batch bakery with a worldwide following, known for exquisite treats—shortbread, cakes, caramels, and macarons—made with fresh eggs, good butter, and French technique. Everything is baked to order, for special occasions—or no occasion at all.

Meg Ray started Miette Patisserie under a bright pink tent at the Berkeley Farmers Market in 2001, on a mission to create everyday indulgences with French technique and the finest organic California ingredients. Today, Miette is a household name in the Bay Area, with five locations. It’s about more than just sweets — It’s about bringing people together for birthdays, weddings, and the small, sweet moments in between.

The quality of the ingredients is at the heart of Miette. Butter comes from Straus Family Creamery, renowned for its rich, organic dairy from pasture-raised cows. Their exclusive candy, imported from Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands, is made with real fruit juice and natural cane sugar. You can taste the quality and the craftsmanship in every bite, and from shortbread cookies to Princess Cake to handmade caramels, Miette’s signature sweets are shipping nationwide!
