"Leopold's Ice Cream: A Century of Tasty Memories" Book

“Leopold’s Ice Cream: A Century of Tasty Memories” chronicles the lives and history of the Leopold brothers and their family in Savannah, Georgia, between 1901 and 2019, including the incredible life of renowned ice cream maker and Hollywood film producer Stratton Leopold. The book is richly illustrated with historic photographs and includes a foreword by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter as well as vintage recipes, celebrity quotes, and customer memories.

Back in 1919, three brothers from Greece – Peter, George, and Basil Leopold – opened an ice cream shop and soda fountain on a busy corner in the heart of Savannah, Georgia, and their super-creamy, secret-recipe ice cream soon began to attract legions of locals. Peter’s youngest child, Stratton, learned the art of making ice cream as a boy, and upon his father’s passing he took over the business, continuing his family’s legacy to this day. Leopold’s Ice Cream remains a Downtown Savannah landmark, and the original black marble soda fountain, wooden back bar, and telephone booth remain intact, along with the super-premium ice cream recipes and techniques perfected over a century ago.
