German Chocolate Cake

This German Chocolate cake has a variety of textures and flavors. It starts with a brown sugar custard which is made from scratch and once cooled, walnuts, dark chocolate chunks and coconut are added. This rich filling is layered over dark chocolate cake layers. An outside coating of dark Belgium chocolate ganache is topped with even more German Chocolate filling. Each bite is an explosion of flavor and texture.

Robert Siegmann spent years as a caterer before opening Icebox Cafe in Miami in 1998. The stylish restaurant remains one of the city’s most popular destinations for modern comfort food, but it’s perhaps most famous for its legendary, award-winning homemade desserts. Icebox Cafe’s must-try desserts are made with only the highest-quality ingredients, and they’re always generous with fillings and toppings. In 2006, Icebox Cafe was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show’s “The Best Cakes in America,” which catapulted his desserts to even greater heights.
