Some restrictions applySamuel German made what became known as German’s Chocolate back in 1852. This amazing chocolate is the foundation of the German Chocolate Cake. We think Samuel would be impressed with Edgar’s Bakery’s version. They take three of their decadent chocolate cake layers paired with a sweet, rich coconut-pecan frosting to make the perfect version of this timeless decadent dessert cake.
Founded in Birmingham as a small neighborhood bakery by the husband-and-wife duo of Terry and Dottie Smith in 1998, Edgar’s Bakery has since grown into one of Alabama’s most beloved homespun bakeries, with nearly a dozen locations throughout the state. Cakes from Edgar’s are a must-have at weddings, graduations, birthday parties, and all other celebrations in Alabama, and the bakery has been named Alabama’s best by publications such as Taste of the South Magazine, Alabama Magazine, and Birmingham Magazine.
