Fall Cheese Collection

As the golden hues of fall sweep across California, there’s no better way to savor the season than with Cowgirl Creamery’s fall cheese collection. Picture crisp afternoons, the scent of harvest in the air, and a spread of cheeses as vibrant as the autumn leaves. From the spicy warmth of Devil’s Gulch and Wagon Wheel’s notes of browned butter and roasted nuts to and the cocoa-spice flavors of Vella Dry Jack Select, each cheese tells its own story of the craftsmanship and flavor of Sonoma. These beautiful cheeses are accompanied by Cowgirl Creamery crackers, Northern California almonds and membrillo.

Cowgirl Creamery makes cheese with heart. In 1997, they started with a dream shared between two college friends and business partners, Sue Conley and Peggy Smith: To celebrate organic practices and spotlight the craftsmanship of local sustainable agriculture in Marin and Sonoma counties. Today, they’re proud to be an icon in the industry, carrying the torch of the food revolution that started in their backyard. Organic. Farm-to-Table. Delicious, award-winning cheese. It’s in their DNA. And it defines their famous creations, including the beloved triple cream Mt Tam.

This package includes 3 of Cowgirl Creamery’s Signature Cheeses + more:

  • Devil’s Gulch (7 oz.) – Cowgirl Creamery’s own Devil’s Gulch cheese is ready to party. Made with organic, locally-sourced milk, Devil’s Gulch is a luscious triple cream named after the narrow ravine carved along the base of Mt. Barnabe in West Marin. Devil’s Gulch gets a fiery kick from vibrant and warming pepper flakes that beautifully contrast with the buttery notes of the cheese.
  • Wagon Wheel (6 oz.) – Experience the liquid gold rush from the hills of San Francisco with Wagon Wheel, a versatile, snackable cheese at its glory when melted down and forged into your favorite meal. Born from the sunshine of California’s rolling golden hills, Wagon Wheel is Cowgirl Creamery’s most versatile and snackable cheese. At room temperature, it’s approachable and delicious. When melted, they call it Liquid Gold. Designed by chefs for chefs (originally on Zuni Cafe’s pizza menu), Wagon Wheel is a washed rind cheese crafted from organic cow’s milk and aged for a minimum of 75 days.
  • Dry Jack Select (8 oz.) – Handcrafted in Sonoma County, Vella’s Dry Jack Special Select is a true American original aged for a minimum of one year and up to two, developing a firmer texture and deep, complex flavor that rivals the best aged cheeses of the world. With sweet, nutty notes and a signature cheddar-like tang, this cheese is rubbed with cocoa and black pepper, then carefully aged upright and turned by hand for even flavor. The result? A cheese that pairs beautifully with wine, sings alongside fresh fruit, and elevates any pasta dish. Bold, balanced, and full of character.
  • Rustic Bakery’s Cowgirl Crackers (6 oz.) – Rustic Bakery crafts these organic crackers exclusively for Cowgirl Creamery, made with sea salt, olive oil and sourdough starter.
  • Membrillo Mitica (4 oz.) – Membrillo is the Spanish word for quince fruit; however, it is generally used interchangeably with the traditional fruit paste formally known as “dulce de membrillo”. Mitica’s membrillo is made with 100% Spanish fruit. To preserve its integrity, this producer adds only lemon and a touch of sugar while making the membrillo.
  • La Saison Almonds La Saison (10 oz.) – They slow roast their Northern California almonds with extra virgin olive oil, a hint of hickory smoked sea salt and Herbes de Provence.

  • Cheeses ship with gel packs, gel packs may thaw in transit.
  • Expect cheese to arrive at room temperature.
  • Upon arrival, please refrigerate.
  • Cheese is stable at room temperature, however, it is best stored in the refrigerator.
  • For optimum enjoyment, please enjoy your cheese within 1-2 weeks. Soft cheeses should be enjoyed sooner.

To Serve

  • Remove your cheese from the refrigerator at least an hour before serving, unwrap it, and place it on a cheese board or butcher paper.
  • Cover with an inverted bowl. This allows the cheese to breathe and protect it while it comes to room temperature.

There is Mold on My Cheese!

  • Traditional cheeses are often made with natural rinds that display a variety of colorful molds and bumpy textures. These rinds protect the cheese as it ages while contributing to its unique flavor profile.
  • Bacteria and mold are essential components of cheese. When cut and wrapped, molds and surface oils can develop on the face of the cheese. Simply scrape the surface with a knife to remove before serving.
