Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie

Nick’s Kitchen ships its famous Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie nationwide on Goldbelly! Introduced by Quaker homesteaders in the early 1800s, this humble Midwestern standard is made with heavy cream, flour, sugar, vanilla, and milk never fails to satisfy. One taste of owner Jean Anne Bailey’s family recipe and you’ll see why Sugar Cream Pie is the state favorite of Hoosier’s everywhere.

While many claim to have kickstarted the Midwest’s pork tenderloin sandwich trend, most agree that Nick’s Kitchen founder Nick Frienstein sold the first pork tenderloin sandwiches from a cart in Huntington, Indiana, in 1904. Since moving into a black-and-red diner in 1908, the town has changed, but not this sandwich, with each giant tenderloin tenderized by hand, soaked in buttermilk, and then coated in cracker crumbs before being fried and placed on a bun. Nick’s Kitchen is also famous for its Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie, a vanilla custard-y filling topped with cinnamon and sugar.

This package serves 6-8 people and includes a Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie.

Hoosier Sugar Cream Pies are made-to-order and promptly frozen. Although each box is carefully packed with ice packs and picked up for immediate shipment, it is normal for the pie and ice packs to partially or fully thaw during shipment. Upon receipt, please refrigerate or place in the freezer.

Hoosier Sugar Cream Pies will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 7days. If you wish to keep them longer, you can store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Detailed storage instructions are included in the box.

Over 100 years ago, Nick Freienstein opened a modest black-and-red diner in Huntington, Indiana. Now an established and beloved local meeting spot, Hoosiers of all appetites come to devour hearty meals which are always topped off with the official state pie - The Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie. What, pray tell, is this astounding sounding creation? Only a creamy vanilla delight with a mesmerizing, custardy filling that jiggles like a Beyonce video and is finished with a sprinkling of cinnamon & sugar for a beautiful caramelized finish. It totally makes us wanna put a ring on it.
