The Creator of the French Macaron

Paris’ famous macaron shop – now shipping to the USA! Ladurée is the definitive French patisserie. Founded in France in 1862, it is possibly the most well known luxury pastry shop in the world. Ever heard of the macaron? Ladurée invented it. The famous treat is composed of two delicate almond flour shells sandwiching a flavored jam or cream filling.

Queen Catherine de’ Medici originally brought the single macaron to France from Italy in the 16th century, but it was a Ladurée baker who had the original idea of the double-decker, sticking two macaron shells together with a creamy ganache as filling. Over the past 150 years imitators have tried to duplicate the delicacy, but no one has come close to the real thing.

We're not the only ones who love them!

Ladurée is one of the best known pastry shops in the world and has been featured in the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Washington Post, LA Times, and in Sofia Coppola's film Marie Antoinette, the TV show Gossip Girl, and provided macarons for the Prince of Monaco's wedding in 2011.

The macarons that I ordered as gifts were absolutely delicious! They came individually wrapped in three lovely boxes and were in perfect condition when I gave them to my friends. The smaller boxes were also perfect and I look forward to ordering from this company again in the future! They are excellent!!

Easy and convenient, but even more important, so many high quality choices. The products arrived on time and well packaged. Our son's family all agreed that the macarons and pralines from Laduree were among the best of the treats that we ever gifted them with.
