We’re Back Pizza

The Sicilian at We're Back Pizza is thick and bakery-style, the pie Michael Avena calls his claim to Connecticut's Sicilian crown. It comes out of a storefront on Boston Post Road in Orange that he has now run twice. The first time it was Abate's, from 2011 to 2019. When the space came open again, he and his wife Christine packed up their home in Orlando and drove back to Connecticut for it. Hence the name.

Forty-five years of technique go into the Sicilian and the Gramma pie alike, the square pies Avena has spent a career refining. Both are shipped nationwide on Goldbelly. Orange got its pizza place back. Now nobody else has to move there for it.
