Choose 2 quarts of your favorite Veselka soup (mushroom barley, or vegetarian borscht) and a dozen pierogi (potato, cheese, arugula & goat cheese, or sauerkraut & mushroom) for the most comforting meal ever!

What started as a humble newsstand serving soups and sandwiches has turned into a legendary, family-owned and operated institution in New York’s East Village. Opened in 1954 by Ukrainian refugees Wolodymyr and Olha Darmochwal, Veselka, which means “rainbow,” is one of New York’s best 24/7 diners, serving Old World comfort food like pierogi, borscht, and goulash.

This package serves 2-4 people and includes

  • Soup, your choice (2 Qts.)
  • 12 Pierogis, your choice
  • Choose to add on more!

Soup Options Include

  • Mushroom Barley Soup – Creamy mushroom and vegetable soup.
  • Vegetarian Borscht – Classic beet soup with vegetables.

Pierogi Options Include

  • Potato
  • Cheese
  • Arugula & Goat Cheese
  • Sauerkraut & Mushroom

Add On Options Include

  • 6 Potato Pancakes
    • Each potato pancake weighs approx. 4 oz.
  • Fried Onions – 4 oz.
  • Beet & Horseradish Salad – 1 pt.
  • Sauerkraut – 1 pt.
  • Spicy Brown Mustard – 4 oz.
  • Soup + Pierogis ships frozen with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
  • Upon arrival, store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

To Serve

Soup

  • Pour the soup in a pot and reheat on the stove. Do not microwave in the container provided
  • Serve and enjoy!

Pierogis

  • Allow pierogi to defrost completely and cook in salted boiling water for 3-4 minutes.
  • Optional: After boiling, pan-fry pierogis in butter until golden brown.
  • Serve & enjoy!

Potato Pancake

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Place frozen pancakes on an ungreased sheet pan.
  • Place in oven and bake for approx. 20-25 minutes, flipping the potato pancakes after the first 10 minutes.
