The Minnesota State Fair's Beloved Fried Pie
The Minnesota State Fair's Beloved Fried Pie
Minne’s Diner in Rogers, Minnesota is the birthplace of the Original Minneapple Pie, an irresistible deep-fried apple pie inspired by classic Midwestern fair food and Andy Atsidakos’ lifelong love of baking. Andy arrived in America from a small farming village in Southern Greece in 1966 with just $7, eventually working his way up from dishwashing to baker in a Minneapolis restaurant before building a life in hospitality alongside his wife, Libby.
The Minneapple Pie emerged in 2008 when Andy’s children experimented with deep-frying individual apple pies, and after months of refining the recipe, Libby perfected the flaky crust. The treat quickly became a fairground favorite, appearing at Target Field with the Minnesota Twins and at the Minnesota State Fair before traveling to festivals across the country, now shipped nationwide on Goldbelly.
