Stan’s Donuts was founded in Los Angeles in 1963 by Stan Berman, and its handmade, old-fashioned doughnuts made it an LA icon until its closure in 2020. The tradition is still alive and well in Chicago, however, thanks to renowned local restaurateur Rich Labriola, who helped bring Stan’s to the Windy City in 2014. Since then, Stan’s has taken on a new life there, where it’s widely regarded as one of Chicago’s best doughnut shops.
