Sesame Seed Bagels - 9 Dozen

The sesame bagel that made St-Viateur Bagel a Mile End institution since 1957 is hand-rolled, boiled in honey-sweetened water, and baked in a wood-fired oven — a process unchanged across nearly seven decades of continuous production at 263 St-Viateur West. What comes out is smaller and denser than a New York bagel, with a crackling golden crust, a tight interior crumb, and a subtle sweetness that’s uniquely Montreal. Anthony Bourdain visited on No Reservations, Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil stopped by, and the New York Times put it plainly: “Bagels like none other.”

Each package includes 108 Sesame Seed bagels

  • St-Viateur bagels arrive ready to enjoy
  • Bagels stay fresh at room temperature in a sealed bag for up to four days
  • To store frozen, slice in half, and then freeze in an airtight freezer-safe plastic bag for up to two months.

To Serve

  • To enjoy bagels long term, they recommend slicing your bagels in half, sealing them in a freezer-safe plastic bag, and keeping them frozen until ready to eat.
  • When you want a bagel, simply put one straight from the freezer into your toaster until you have a warm bagel ready for you to enjoy!

Look no further than St-Viateur Bagel for the perfect blend of chewy, crispy, smoky and sweet Montreal bagels. Made in true artisanal fashion, every St-Viateur bagel is hand rolled by master bakers and boiled in honey water before being baked in a wood-burning oven. As the New York Times called them: ”Bagels like none other!”

Established in 1957, St-Viateur Bagel is a family business and Montreal’s longest-running bagel shop. The bakery was founded by Myer Lewkowicz, who moved to Montreal to start a new life after surviving WWII. He discovered a new joy in the bagel trade, for himself and the community, a legacy that proudly continues today.

Passionate and dedicated to the humble art of bagel making, St-Viateur Bagel has become a popular tourist attraction featured in many Montreal history tours. Their expertly crafted bagels have won the hearts of local bagel lovers, tourists and foodies everywhere.

So what makes a Montreal bagel so special? It is light and crunchy. You can smear it with cream cheese, layer it with smoked salmon, or simply enjoy it toasted!
