Zola Mae's Peach Cobbler

Sky’s Gourmet Tacos is a Los Angeles institution, and its founder, Barbara Jean “Sky” Burrell, is an undeniable legend. She was the first African American hired by the Kroger’s supermarket chain, oversaw a staff of 200 at United Way, was on the board of The Watts Labor Action Committee, and was part of the team that introduced the first drive-thru for McDonald’s. But after all that, Sky decided to embrace her passion for food, and turned her attention to infusing the humble taco with a dose of Southern soul. Sky Taco was the result, and when it opened in 1992 it proved to be an overnight smash hit. Burrell has since opened a catering business and a gourmet market place, and has been showered with countless awards and accolades including a plaque from LA Mayor Eric Garcetti.
