Sky’s Gourmet Tacos is a Los Angeles institution, and its founder, Barbara Jean “Sky” Burrell, is an undeniable legend. She was the first African American hired by the Kroger’s supermarket chain, oversaw a staff of 200 at United Way, was on the board of The Watts Labor Action Committee, and was part of the team that introduced the first drive-thru for McDonald’s. But after all that, Sky decided to embrace her passion for food, and turned her attention to infusing the humble taco with a dose of Southern soul. Sky Taco was the result, and when it opened in 1992 it proved to be an overnight smash hit. Burrell has since opened a catering business and a gourmet market place, and has been showered with countless awards and accolades including a plaque from LA Mayor Eric Garcetti. But these are the tacos that started it all!

- Onion (2 oz.)
- Sour Cream (2 oz.)
- Cilantro (0.5 oz.)
- Sky’s Sassy Sauce (4 oz.)
- Tortilla Chips (5 oz.)
- Choose to add Sky’s Original All-Purpose Seasoning (5 oz.) – A perfect “Mexican with a Splash of Soul” addition to stews, stirred into simmering pork, or even mixed into salad dressings or dips!
Protein Options Include
- Beyond Beef® Vegan Ground Beef (approx. 6 oz.)
- Seasoned Lobster (approx. 6 oz.)
- Seasoned Shrimp (approx. 6 oz.)
- Sirloin Steak (approx. 8 oz.)
- Nacho kit ships frozen with ice packs, may thaw during transit.
- Upon arrival, store nacho kit in the refrigerator.
- Nacho kit may be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, do not freeze.
To Serve
- Remove all items from the refrigerator.
- Place the chips evenly into the container provided, pour the black beans over them, add the protein on top, and then add the cheese on top.
- Microwave until the cheese melts, about 20-35 seconds (watch closely so as not to overcook the protein).
- Add remaining cold toppings in any order you wish and top with Sassy Sauce and sour cream.
- Serve and enjoy!
