Fisherman Tom Savidge and his wife Marie began smoking wild salmon in their backyard smokehouse and selling it to local taverns in Anacortes, Washington in 1957. The fish gained massive popularity and SeaBear Smokehouse was established. Today, SeaBear Smokehouse remains true to their roots, serving sustainable seafood handcrafted in small batches from the Pacific Northwest.

Bagels

  • Allow your frozen bagel to thaw overnight in the refrigerator for at least 6-7 hours.
  • Remove from refrigerator, cover with Saran wrap, wax paper or a dish towel, and place on counter for 30-40 minutes.
  • Make desired adjustments to the hole as well as the form and size of your bagels so they are uniform.
  • Preheat oven to 455°.
  • In a large pot, bring 4-5 cups of water to a boil (note: for a darker and sweeter crust, similar to Montreal Style, add ¼ cup of honey to water before boiling bagels).
  • Working in batches of 3, gently lower bagels into boiling water. Boil for 1 minute.
  • Flip bagels and continue boiling for an additional 1 minute. (IMPORTANT to boil on both sides!)
  • Gently remove bagels from boiling water with a mesh strainer or tongs and place on a lined or greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 455° until baked through and lightly browned (generally 14-16 minutes, but WATCH CLOSELY, as all ovens are different).
  • Rotate baking sheet 180 degrees at 8 minutes.
  • Remove bagels and allow to cool to desired temperature for serving.

Crab Rolls

  • Split the rustic organic potato rolls (from local icon Macrina Bakery) and spread the inside tops and bottom with some of the enclosed butter from local West Coast Dumpling Company.
  • Toast the buttered sides of the rolls in a pan until golden brown.
  • Spread Dungeness Crab Spread on the top half of the roll.
  • If you’d like, put lettuce and/or tomato on the bottom half of the roll (your call, but we like to serve it that way).
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place 1-2 rolls in one of the enclosed trays
  • Enjoy!

Golden Legs & Claws

  • Pack the legs in ice and cover with a damp towel for best results (replenish the ice as it melts).
  • There are a variety of ways to reheat king crab. Steaming, boiling and baking (we recommend 275ºF) are among the most common. Usually, under these methods, king crab takes only 5 to 8 minutes to cook. Be careful not to over heat your king crab as it will reduce the king crab’s texture and taste.
