Braised until fork-tender, it’s also become an instant classic on the Mark’s Off Madison menu. It’s served with homemade deli-style corn rye, which is shaped by hand and made with just the right amount of caraway seeds.
Mark Strausman has been one of New York’s most beloved chefs for more than 30 years. A native New Yorker, he rose to fame at NYC’s Campagna and was elevated to superstar status at Upper East Side phenom Fred’s at Barney’s, which he opened in 1996 and oversaw until its 2020 closure. Mark’s Off Madison, which he opened the following year, is the culmination of his career. At Mark’s, Strausman is bringing together all of the food that put him on the map, with the classical European and rustic Italian dishes of his training as well as the traditional Jewish foods of his upbringing in New York City all combining into a quintessential New York experience.
This package serves 2-4 people and includes
- Brisket & Gravy (1.5 lbs.)
- Seeded Rye Bread, Sliced (2 lbs.)
- Horseradish (4 oz.)
- Meal Kit ships frozen with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
- Brisket may be stored in the freezer for 3 months or in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Keep frozen until the day before consumption. It is recommended to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Bake from refrigerated state.
- Rye Bread may be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To Serve
- Preheat oven to 325° F.
- Toast the slices of bread while heating the brisket.
- Place brisket on a cookie tray. It will be easier to place in and remove from the oven.
- Cover the Brisket with the sauce making sure it covers the Brisket.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Using a large spatula or tongs remove the brisket and place on the toasted deli rye.
- Cover with more sauce and enjoy!
