Cash-only and with no website, this beloved Italian deli is one of those places that locals rave about and in-the-know tourists take the ferry over from Manhattan to visit. Founded in 1981 and still run by founders Pietro and Teresa Biancamano, M&P is renowned for its homemade fresh mozzarella (lovingly referred to as “mutz” in these parts) and huge Italian sandwiches.

- If enjoying later, remove mozzarella from the refrigerator and place in a container with warm tap water and keep at room temperature for one hour before eating.
