Fany Gerson launched La Newyorkina in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York, after an inspiring trip to her native Mexico. When she returned to New York, she knew she wanted to share and celebrate the amazing Mexican desserts she rediscovered on her trip. Sourcing the best possible ingredients from both New York and Mexico, Gerson first made paletas (Mexican popsicles). Now La Newyorkina makes a wide range of sweet Mexican treats, including cheesecakes, ice cream, and traditional panadería-style baked goods.
This package serves 6-8 people and includes
- 12 Heart-Shaped Churros (each 8")
- Cajeta Caramel Sauce (6 oz.)
- Mexican Hot Fudge (6 oz.)
- Mexican Cinnamon Sugar (8 oz.)
- Churros ships frozen with dry ice, may dissipate in transit.
- Do not remove dry ice with bare hands.
- Upon arrival, store churros in the freezer for up to 2 months.
- Sauces may be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
To Serve
- If frozen, thaw churros at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- Place churros flat on a baking sheet.
- Heat until warm and crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour sauce into a microwave safe dish and heat for 15-20 sec.
- Once churros are warm toss in cinnamon sugar.
- Top with sauces.
- Serve and enjoy!

She rented an ice cream cart and took 850 of her paletas to a street fair to see how New Yorkers would like traditional Mexican flavors, like avocado and mango lime. When all of her paletas sold in just a few hours, she knew she was onto something.
The rest, as they say, is history in the making. La Newyorkina have have continued to grow, opening a brick and mortar flagship and several seasonal locations. They have also expanded their product offerings to include a wide range of Mexican treats, including Cheesecakes, Ice Cream, and traditional Panadería baked goods.
