Fany Gerson launched La Newyorkina in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York, after an inspiring trip to her native Mexico. When she returned to New York, she knew she wanted to share and celebrate the amazing Mexican desserts she rediscovered on her trip. Sourcing the best possible ingredients from both New York and Mexico, Gerson first made paletas (Mexican popsicles). Now La Newyorkina makes a wide range of sweet Mexican treats, including cheesecakes, ice cream, and traditional panadería-style baked goods.
This package serves 6-8 people and includes your choice of 1 Pan de Muerto
- Each Pan de Muerto measures approx. 10" and weighs approx. 3 lbs.
Flavor Options Include
- Traditional Pan de Muerto – Scented with orange blossom, fresh orange zest, and buttery sugar topping
- Mexican Chocolate Filled Pan de Muerto – Signature Chocolate version of the favorite Mexican bread – the delicious pan de Muerto filled with Mexican Chocolate and topped with a delicious buttery – canela & sugar topping.
- Traditional Pan de Muerto is baked fresh to order, then frozen before shipping.
- Pan will arrive fully or partially thawed.
- Upon arrival, either leave the Pan at room temperature to thaw out before heating, or freeze.
- Pan may be kept frozen up for up 3 weeks.
- Must be consumed immediately after thawing.
To Serve
- If frozen, thaw at room temperature until fully thawed.
- Preheat oven to 300° F.
- Place on a baking sheet and cover loosely with aluminum foil.
- Heat for 5-8 minutes. (Please note that sugar might be absorbed into bread.)

Fany Gerson launched La Newyorkina in the summer of 2010 after an inspiring trip to her native Mexico. When she returned to New York, she knew she wanted to share and celebrate the amazing treats she'd rediscovered on her trip. Sourcing the best possible ingredients from both New York State and Mexico, Fany set to work making paletas (popsicles), the quintessential Mexican dessert. She rented an ice cream cart and took 850 of her paletas to a street fair to see how New Yorkers would like traditional Mexican flavors, like avocado and mango lime. When all of her paletas sold in just a few hours, she knew she was onto something.
The rest, as they say, is history in the making. La Newyorkina have have continued to grow, opening a brick and mortar flagship and several seasonal locations. They have also expanded their product offerings to include a wide range of Mexican treats, including Cheesecakes, Ice Cream, and traditional Panadería baked goods.
