Fany Gerson launched La Newyorkina in the summer of 2010 after an inspiring trip to her native Mexico. When she returned to New York, she knew she wanted to share and celebrate the amazing treats she'd rediscovered on her trip. Sourcing the best possible ingredients from both New York State and Mexico, Fany set to work making paletas (popsicles), the quintessential Mexican dessert. She rented an ice cream cart and took 850 of her paletas to a street fair to see how New Yorkers would like traditional Mexican flavors, like avocado and mango lime. When all of her paletas sold in just a few hours, she knew she was onto something.
The rest, as they say, is history in the making. La Newyorkina have have continued to grow, opening a brick and mortar flagship and several seasonal locations.
