Beef Rendang Sapi for 3-4

One of Indonesia’s most recognized dishes is Rendang Sapi — mouthwatering, slow-cooked spicy beef, simmered in a savory coconut milk sauce with bold spices like garlic, fresh kaffir lime leaves, and special bumbu merah seasoning. Tender beef eye round is infused with aromatic flavors of lemongrass, ginger, and tamarind. Served with fragrant coconut turmeric rice and a vibrant pickled salad, this dish is a true testament to the deep, authentic flavors of Indonesia.

Krakatoa is Chef Abe Moiz’s love letter to his native Indonesia. Growing up, Abe’s home was filled with the aromas of his mother’s cooking. But once he moved to the U.S., he soon realized that the beloved flavors of his youth were impossible to find, and he couldn’t even replicate them because many traditional Indonesian ingredients – like fresh candlenut, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves – were also unavailable. So he began importing (and in the case of kaffir lime leaves, growing) them on his own, and opened Krakatoa, which proved so successful that Guy Fieri paid a visit for an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.” Countless diners have since fallen in love with Krakatoa’s authentic, heartfelt traditional Indonesian cuisine – and now you can, too.

Guy Fieri-Approved Authentic Indonesian

Krakatoa is Chef Abe Moiz’s love letter to his native Indonesia. Growing up, Abe’s home was filled with the aromas of his mother’s cooking. But once he moved to the U.S., he soon realized that the beloved flavors of his youth were impossible to find, and he couldn’t even replicate them because many traditional Indonesian ingredients – like fresh candlenut, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves – were also unavailable. So he began importing (and in the case of kaffir lime leaves, growing) them on his own, and Krakatoa made its debut in 2014 at the Yellow Green Farmers Market in Hollywood, Florida. It proved so successful that a brick-and-mortar soon followed, and it truly took off when Guy Fieri paid a visit for an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”

Countless diners have since fallen in love with Krakatoa’s authentic, heartfelt traditional Indonesian cuisine – and now you can, too. From slow-cooked Beef Rendang Sapi to Chicken Opor Ayam simmered in creamy coconut sauce to tropical pandan-infused Klepon Cake for dessert, this is a true taste of Indonesia, and it’s shipping nationwide!
