"The Zellagabetsky" Sandwich Kit
Some Prep
Freezer Friendly
A sandwich so massive, its name can’t contain it. Stacked 8 layers high on special-cut rye, this towering creation features all of our premium deli meats: corned beef, pastrami, turkey, turkey pastrami, roast beef, salami, and tongue. Finished with Swiss cheese, crisp coleslaw, tangy Russian dressing, and sweet red peppers. Served with a side of classic potato salad.
From a third-generation New York Deli owner, Kenny & Ziggy’s is not only the top deli in Texas but also one of the best delis in America. In the early 1900s, Max Gruber (Ziggy’s grandfather) left Budapest, Hungary, on a bicycle. He pedaled his way across Europe to the Atlantic coast and eventually sailed for the United States, ending up on New York’s Lower East Side. In 1927, he and his brothers-in-law Morris and Izzy Rappaport opened the first Jewish deli on Broadway! Generations later, Houston businessman Lenny Friedman convinced Ziggy Gruber, who ran successful Jewish delis in New York and Los Angeles, that Houston needed an authentic deli of its own. The rest is delicious history.

He pedaled his way across Europe to the Atlantic coast and eventually sailed for the United States, ending up in New York’s lower east side. In 1927, he and his brothers-in-law Morris and Izzy Rappaport opened the first Jewish deli on Broadway, The Rialto.
Today, three generations later, Max’s grandson Ziggy Gruber continues the family tradition as Chef/Owner of Houston’s most authentic New York delicatessen. After learning the business side-by-side with his father and grandfather starting as a young boy, Ziggy graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in London and trained in a three-Michelin star London restaurant before operating delis of his own in New York and Los Angeles and opening Kenny & Ziggy’s in 2000. The rest is delicious history! Kenny & Ziggy’s has gone on to become not only the deli star of the Lone Star State but acclaimed as one of the top delis in the nation.
