Hong Kong, HKYou won't find one person in Hong Kong who does not know Kee Wah Bakery. Founded by Wong Yip-Wing in 1938, this renowned HK brand started off as a humble streetcorner tuck shop. When it was forced to close during WWII, Kee Wah employees improvised—making an oven with an old oil barrel and selling pastries to boat dwellers along the harbor. Today, as one of Hong Kong’s oldest bakeries, Kee Wah is still the golden standard for traditional Hong Kong treats. Not only have they made a name with their signature line of mooncakes, Kee Wah is well-loved for classic HK pastries like Wives Cakes and Eggrolls as well as their Panda Butter Cookies.
