After years of struggling with addiction and homelessness, Janie Deegan began baking as an act of self-care while working to rebuild her life and stay sober. Baking had always brought her joy as a child, so in 2015 she began baking treats for friends. She turned this into a small business selling pies for Thanksgiving, and it took off from there: Janie today has three storefronts in New York City and is shipping nationwide.
