Some restrictions applyOuita’s dream apron was brought to life by the Anchal Project, a Louisville-based non-profit which provides employment opportunities to women through training programs in India and Kentucky. This durable and comfy apron is equipped with strings long enough to tie in the front and multiple pockets, including a chef’s pocket embroidered with Holly Hill’s beautiful bouquet garni. Designed in Kentucky and hand-stitched in India by female artisans, this Bouquet Garni Apron is Chef Ouita’s go-to kitchen accessory.
In 2000, chefs Chris and Ouita Michel purchased the Holly Hill Inn, in the heart of Kentucky Bluegrass Country, from the family that had owned the property for generations. The couple spent a year converting the 1845 mansion into a fine dining restaurant, with a seasonal prix fixe menu featuring Kentucky-sourced ingredients. Holly Hill has become recognized as one of the finest restaurants in the South, earning several James Beard nominations and renowned for cuisine that showcases Kentucky’s local bounty.

A Taste of Bluegrass Country, From a Southern Landmark

In 2001, Chef Ouita Michel and her husband Chris opened the Holly Hill Inn in the small town of Midway, Kentucky. It quickly achieved acclaim and is today recognized as one of the finest restaurants in the South. Along the way, they added Wallace Station, the Midway Bakery, Windy Corner, Smithtown Seafood, Honeywood, Zim’s Café, The Thirsty Fox, and more. In 2020, they began shipping their Midway Bakery cookies all over the United States as friends and family sought to stay connected, and the experience made them realize how much they valued helping create those connections.
And now, all of their favorite Kentucky treats, many of them handmade by local artisans, are shipping nationwide on Goldbelly! With this partnership, they can now offer carefully curated, well-crafted Kentucky favorites to folks throughout North America, to give and enjoy. From Ouita’s signature cookies to homemade condiments to beautiful gift baskets, this is a true taste of Bluegrass Country.
