Cupcakes are from the Washington, D.C. bakery Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne opened on Valentine’s Day 2008 — leaving fashion and finance careers behind to follow their Greek grandmother’s recipes. The sisters built a bakery the New York Times ranked above Magnolia, starred in TLC’s DC Cupcakes, and have been making cupcakes with Valrhona chocolate and European sweet cream butter ever since; the Father’s Day dozen is the occasion-dressed version of that same standard.
