Seattle's Frankie & Jo's is the vegan, gluten-free scoop shop behind California Cabin, a smoked vanilla bean and pine ice cream studded with cardamom-black-pepper shortbread. Founded in 2016 by chocolatier and CEO Autumn Martin with co-founder Kari Brunson and named for Martin's late grandmothers Frances and Joanne, Frankie and Jo builds every scoop from scratch using organic, non-GMO ingredients, with no gums, stabilizers, or pre-made base in sight.
Flavors lean into the seasons: fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, alternatively sweetened with dates and maple, all of it plant-based and deeply flavorful rather than any kind of consolation prize.
