Legendary Home of the Charbroiled Oyster Since 1969
Legendary Home of the Charbroiled Oyster Since 1969
Drago's Seafood Restaurant, the New Orleans institution behind the charbroiled oyster — the dish Tommy Cvitanovich invented in 1993 by layering garlic, butter, herbs, and Parmesan over fresh Gulf oysters on a hot grill — has been one of the city's most celebrated tables since Drago and Klara Cvitanovich first opened their doors in 1969. On a busy day, Drago's serves over 900 dozen of them.
Klara still greets guests at the door. Tommy still runs the kitchen. More than 400 people show up every day to carry on what this family started — and now it's shipped nationwide on Goldbelly.
