To Serve
Arepa
- Ensure that the arepas are room temperature prior to starting
- Pre-heat the oven or air fryer at 380ºF.
- Once pre-heat temperature is reached, place arepas in the oven or air fryer for 15min.
Shredded Beef, Shredded Chicken and Asado Negro
- Pierce the plastic film of the tray with a knife.
- Place the container in your microwave and cook it on high for 3 minutes.
- Remove the plastic cover, stir the meat around within the tray and place it back in the microwave for an additional minute.
- Contents will be hot, carefully take the Asado Negro out of the microwave and place it in a platter.
- Grab the wrapping paper and form a pocket where the Arepa will be held.
- Place the Arepa into the center of the pocket making sure it covers half of the Arepa. Fold the excess edges of the wrapping paper around the back.
- Place the Arepa flat on a surface, and with a butter knife serrate the ridge from one end to another following a half-circle pattern making sure that you don’t cut through to the other end of the Arepa.
- Once you have created an opening around the edges, carve towards the center of the arepa to allow the arepa to open like a clam shell so that you can insert the ingredients.
- Place ingredients individually into the arepa stacking them on top of each other; meat on the bottom to cheese on the top.
- Enjoy!
