Not eligible for shipping to Canada, Arizona, or CaliforniaFreestone peaches are the most widely anticipated peaches of the season. The freestone peach is the one you need to eat while standing over your kitchen sink, prized for its hallmark juiciness and sweet flavor. Freestone peaches are the last of the three categories to be harvested, but have the longest run, spanning from early to mid June through August. These peaches have flesh that falls right off the pit, making them the ideal peach for freezing, canning or eating.
Dickey Farms has been growing peaches in the heartland of Georgia since 1897, and it’s proud to be home to Georgia’s oldest continuously operating peach packinghouse. Built by Robert L. “Mr. Bob” Dickey in 1936, the long white building remains a prominent landmark in historic Musella, Georgia. Mr. Bob also implemented some revolutionary technology, including Georgia’s first peach fuzz-removing brushing machine and one of the first hydro-cooling systems to remove field dust and slow the ripening process. The Dickey family still runs the farm today, and takes pride in shipping the sweetest, juiciest peaches straight from the heart of Georgia to your door!

- Peaches arrive ready to enjoy!
- To allow peaches to ripen properly, keep peaches at room temperature upon arrival (For faster ripening, place peaches in a brown paper bag at room temperature).
- Once peaches reach desired ripeness, store them in the refrigerator. They can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- For maximum flavor, allow peaches to reach room temperature before eating (about 30 minutes). Once peaches are sliced, adding a few dashes of lemon juice will prevent excessive browning.
Tips for freezing peaches
- Peaches should be soft & ripe before freezing.
- Peel & slice peaches into a bowl of water mixed with citric acid powder, making sure to cover the entire slices of peach with the water solution. This will keep peaches from turning brown when they are thawed.
- Drain all water from the peaches before freezing.
- Sugar may be added to the peaches at this point, if desired.
- Pack peaches in freezer bags about ¾ full.
- Flatten bags and freeze.

In the early days, Dickey Farms used mules to plow the orchards and transport peaches to the packinghouse. Mr. Bob implemented some revolutionary technology, including Georgia’s first peach fuzz-removing brushing machine and one of the first hydro-cooling systems to remove field dust and slow the ripening process.
Mr Bob shipped all his fruit in refrigerated railroad cars, but today they’re shipping nationwide overnight! The Dickey family still runs the farm today, and takes pride in shipping the sweetest, juiciest peaches straight from the heart of Georgia to your door!
