Brooklyn-Born, Caribbean-Inspired Ice Cream & Sorbet
The husband-and-wife duo of Omar and Astrid Thorpe are giving the traditional ice cream shop a fun and tropical twist at Creme and Cocoa, which they opened in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Prospect Lefferts Gardens in 2017. At Cream and Cocoa, they’re churning up fresh, small-batch ice cream in flavors that pay homage to their upbringing in the Caribbean.
Using only fresh, high-quality ingredients, the Thorpes are creating ice creams in flavors that reflect their deep ties to the native flora of the Islands. And we’re not just talking about coconuts and pineapples; you’ll find flavors including soursop, tamarind, and hibiscus along with more traditional childhood favorites like cookies & cream and mint chip. Go ahead, try something new — you won’t regret it!
