Where Southern Soul Meets the Caribbean
Where Southern Soul Meets the Caribbean
Comfort Foodies, the Houston, Texas kitchen behind Dominican-style empanadas with a crispy corn shell and Afro-Caribbean fillings built on house-made sofrito, was created by husband-and-wife team Elsa and Jeff Matthews. Elsa's Dominican upbringing drives every filling — slow-braised oxtail, seasoned beef, spinach and cheese — while Jeff's Southern background adds a warm undercurrent to a bite that carries both cultures at once.
Handcrafted, frozen to preserve freshness, and built on a recipe that bridges two traditions in one handheld bite — shipped nationwide on Goldbelly.
