Lockhart is known far and wide as “The Barbecue Capital of Texas,” and in this storied little town, Black’s Barbecue has been going strong since it was founded by patriarch Edgar Black, Sr. in 1932. Today it’s run by fourth-generation pitmasters Barrett Black and Eric Lenderman, making it the oldest BBQ joint in Texas that’s been owned by just one family. - Barbecue ships frozen with dry ice.
- Dry ice may dissipate in transit.
- Do not remove dry ice with bare hands.
- Upon arrival, place the vacuum sealed barbecue in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To Serve
- Wrap the thawed barbecue in aluminum foil and preheat your oven to 350° F.
- Place the barbecue on a metal pan to catch the juices from the meat as it heats. Check the temperature of the barbecue periodically using a meat thermometer.
- Most thawed meat will take approx. 45 minutes to an hour to heat (larger amounts of meat such as a whole brisket may take a bit longer).
- Sausage and ribs can be heated using the same process but may be ready in as little as 30 minutes.
- Slice the barbecue with a sharp knife and cut into thin slices.
