Nestled in the southwest corner of Lackawanna County, the miners of this tiny town would leave late at night and go to the local taverns for some down time. There, the wives and daughters of the miners would make dough on baking pans and top it with tomatoes and spices from their gardens. This regional style of pizza is so popular that the city’s residents have dubbed Old Forge “The Pizza Capital of America!” Opened in 1962, Arcaro & Genell has been featured in Pizza Magazine and declared one of the Top 10 pizzas in the country by USA Today.
