This isn’t your grandma’s mandel bread! Also known as mandelbrot, this traditional Jewish treat usually bears a close resemblance to Italian biscotti – it’s baked twice, so it’s hard and crunchy. But for Michael Reiss, a Miami-based general contractor and avid baker, the double-baked mandel bread that he grew up eating just wasn’t doing it for him any more. So with plenty of tinkering (and a lot of love), Michael developed a single-baked mandel bread that’s soft, tender, cakey, and cookie-like, and unlike anything else on the market. This unique mandel bread is equally ideal as a crowd-pleasing standalone dessert, with a scoop of ice cream, or as an accompaniment to your morning coffee, and now it’s shipping nationwide!
