This kit contains a delicious combination of sirloin steaks, filet mignon steaks, and strip steaks, ready to be cooked, sliced, and coated in your choice of Gojo’s legendary sauces! This pack also contains all three sauces: Miso Ginger, Teriyaki, and their iconic Yellow Sauce!

For more than 40 years, Gojo was Kansas City’s premier Japanese steakhouse, specializing in high-end cuts of steak cooked hibachi-style and served with a variety of addictively delicious sauces. The restaurant was founded in 1978 by chef Jo Yamanaka, who left his hometown of Kyoto, Japan, to bring bold Japanese flavors to the heart of the Midwest. Gojo quickly became a Kansas City staple, and its sauces became especially famous. Sadly, in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, Gojo was forced to close its doors for good. But the Gojo story doesn’t end there! Shortly after closing, They began bottling their signature sauces and selling them at local Kansas City markets, and now they’re being delivered nationwide!

You Will Need At Home

  • Ingredients for Hibachi
    • Butter, Unsalted
    • Salt (kosher recommended)
    • Black Pepper
    • Soy Sauce
    • Steamed White Rice
  • Ingredients for Stir Fry, if desired
    • 3 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 pack of white mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 onion, quartered and sliced
    • 1 cup of carrots, can use pre-sliced crinkle cut or slice ¼” thick coins
    • 1 cup of zucchini, 1” diced cubes
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
    • Salt (kosher recommended)
    • Black pepper
    • Soy sauce
  • Ingredients for Salad, if desired
    • Iceberg lettuce (or your choice greens)
    • Sliced fresh mushrooms
    • Shredded red cabbage

Instructions / Storage

  • Items ship frozen with ice packs, ice packs may thaw in transit
  • Upon arrival, freeze steaks or thaw them in the refrigerator
  • Steaks can be stored for 6-7 days in the refrigerator or up to 6 months in the freezer
  • Remove steaks from the fridge 30 minutes prior to cooking
  • Keep sauces refrigerated after opening for up to 30 days

To Serve

Filet Mignon

  • Allow steaks to thaw for 30 minutes at room temperature
  • Cook your rice according to the package instructions (not included)
  • Remove filets from the packaging then pat dry using paper towels
  • Season both sides generously with salt and pepper, set aside
  • Heat a large sauté pan over high heat, then add 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Once butter is melted and pan is searing hot, carefully add the filets
  • Using tongs, flip each filet every minute to create a thin, even crust on each side. Do this for:
    • 6-7 minutes for medium (internal temperature 140-145°F)
    • 8-9 minutes for medium well (internal temperature 150-155°F) or until desired doneness is achieved
  • Remove from heat and let rest for 3-5 minutes to lock in juices
  • Cut into bite-sized pieces, about 1” cubes, then transfer back to the cooled pan or a medium sized bowl
  • Add a splash of soy sauce (about 1 tablespoon), then mix until evenly coated
  • Serve with rice and choice of sauce
  • Enjoy!

Teriyaki Sirloin

  • Allow steaks to thaw for 30 minutes at room temperature
  • Remove sirloins from the packaging then pat dry using paper towels
  • Cut into bite-sized pieces, about 1” cubes. Season with salt and pepper, set aside
  • Heat a large sauté pan over high heat, then add 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Once butter is melted, carefully add the sirloin to the hot pan
  • Cook until browned on all sides then remove from heat
    • Medium rare: about 2 minutes
    • Medium: about 3 minutes
    • Well done: 4-5 minutes or until meat feels firm
  • Add a splash of teriyaki sauce (about 1 tablespoon), then mix until evenly coated
  • Serve with rice and choice of sauce
  • Enjoy!

Strip Loins

  • Remove strip loins from the packaging then pat dry using paper towels
  • Cut into bite-sized pieces, about 1” cubes. Season with salt and pepper, set aside
  • Heat a large sauté pan over high heat, then add 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Once butter is melted, carefully add the sirloin to the hot pan
  • Cook until browned on all sides then remove from heat
    • Medium rare: about 2 minutes
    • Medium: about 3 minutes
    • Well done: 4-5 minutes or until meat feels firm
  • Add a splash of teriyaki sauce (about 1 tablespoon), then mix until evenly coated
  • Serve with rice and choice of sauce
  • Enjoy!

Hibachi Vegetable Stir Fry (Optional)

Serves: 4-6 people

You Will Need

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pack of white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, quartered and sliced
  • 1 cup of carrots, can use pre-sliced crinkle cut or slice ¼” thick coins
  • 1 cup of zucchini, 1” diced cubes
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • Salt (kosher recommended)
  • Black pepper
  • Soy sauce

At least 30 minutes before cooking

  • While rice is cooking, prep your vegetables accordingly; keep everything separated (don’t mix)

Mushrooms

  • In a large sauté pan, heat over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Once melted, add mushrooms then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated and mushrooms are caramelized.
  • Remove from heat, transfer to a large bowl and mix with any of the beef options or teriyaki chicken.
  • Divide evenly between your plates and serve alongside rice, vegetables and choice of sauce.

Vegetables Stir-Fry

  • Using the same pan, heat over high heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Once melted, add garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until aromatic.
  • Add carrots and onions, sauté for 2 minutes, then add zucchini.
  • Stir fry vegetables for another 5-7 minutes or until carrots are tender and onions are translucent, then remove from heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix with a splash of soy sauce sauce (optional)
  • Serve with rice, proteins and choice of sauce.
  • Enjoy!

Green Salad (Optional)

You Will Need

  • Miso Ginger Dressing (included)
  • Iceberg lettuce (or your choice greens)
  • Sliced fresh mushrooms
  • Shredded red cabbage

Salad

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl
  • Use tongs to lightly toss
  • Enjoy!
