Wilkerson Bakery
A North Carolina Tradition Since 1925
In 1925, Dewey Guy Wilkerson, Sr. set out to create a perfect spice cookie. The legendary thinness and unmistakable flavor he pioneered and brought to life became the hallmark of the Moravian spice cookie. Along the way, products such as his famous sugar cake became cherished traditions. Today—five generations later—the family’s Moravian baked goods are beloved across North Carolina and beyond. Wilkerson sisters Chelsi and Drake, along with their brothers Kidd and Kane, work beside their father to carry their family legacy into its next century — honoring tradition while continuing to innovate with care and pride, always guided by the unspoken promise that every batch should be better than the one before.
The Wilkersons still bake with patience, purpose, and heart — cracking every egg by hand, freshly grinding whole spices, sourcing the finest ingredients, and using real potatoes in their Moravian Sugar Cake for authentic flavor. Each cookie is rolled to their signature paper-thinness, then hand-baked and hand-packed in small batches in Winston-Salem, where their family’s legacy truly took root and the Wilkerson magic continues to grow. These recipes are more than family heirlooms — they’re connections to memory, to heritage, and to home. Open a Wilkerson box, and you’ll be greeted by The Taste You Remember®.
