Nothing has changed much at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen. Not only is its tiny drive-thru shop still marked by signage from the ‘70s, it is still the spot for the best homemade biscuits and cinnamon rolls in North Carolina. Founded in 1978, Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen has been doling out their famous Bigger Better Biscuits filled with fried chicken, sausage and egg for forty years. In fact, it has become such an establishment on Chapel Hill, that it’s pretty much a crime if you graduate as a UNC student without ever visiting. Today, third-generation David Allen runs the shop with his grandmother’s original biscuit recipe—a recipe he believes powered her to raise seventeen children and live to almost 100!
