Hand-crafted Empanadas From a Family Recipe
La Jefa Empanadas in Georgia brings handcrafted Caribbean-style empanadas, including traditional and vegan varieties, to tables across the country. Founder Angela’s love of cooking began in the South Bronx, where she learned alongside her parents and drew inspiration from her mother’s homegrown herbs and thoughtful approach to flavor. After moving to Georgia in 2010 and working in the music industry, Angela started making empanadas for her recording-studio clients—sharing a taste of home that quickly grew into something bigger and led to the launch of La Jefa Empanadas in 2016.
Inspired by her son Liam “Bowie” Washington, who was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, Angela shaped the business around family, culture, and advocacy. Today, La Jefa focuses on handcrafted production, catering, and sharing traditional and vegan Caribbean flavors, shipped nationwide on Goldbelly.
