Lombardi's Pizza

Widely regarded as America’s very first pizzeria – and one of its very best – New York’s Lombardi’s was founded by Neapolitan immigrant Gennaro Lombardi in Manhattan’s Little Italy in 1905, and is credited with establishing New York-style pizza as we know it. Back then, Lombardi would sell tomato pies, wrapped in paper and tied with a string, to local factory workers at lunchtime. Over the years they evolved into the big, cheesy pizzas we know and love today.

Lombardi’s legendary pizzas are still made the same way they’ve been for decades.
