In 1898, Fred H. Eilenberger opened the doors to his bakery in Palestine, Texas using secret family recipes his parents brought with them decades earlier from Germany. Despite a devastating fire, the Great Depression and two World Wars over the past century, Eilenberger's has kept their doors open selling their delicious baked goods, making them one of the oldest operating bakeries in the Lone Star State. While some things may have changed over the past 120+ years (they no longer deliver via horse drawn carriage, for instance) others, like their legendary pecan loaded fruitcake, haven’t changed a bit. Using nothing but the finest ingredients, Eilenberger's still makes every cake the old fashioned way: mixed, baked and decorated entirely by hand. It's just one reason many believe they're producing the best Pecan Cakes and Fruitcakes anywhere in the world.
