Scones are where Cups & Cakes Bakery began, the Rumson, New Jersey neighborhood bakery and cafe that founder Denise Kelleher opened in 2010 in her home town. A former New York City fashion executive who spent years at Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's, she traded buying trips across Europe and Asia for a life closer to home and family, and turned a gift of homemade scones, shared during a hard season, into the start of something of her own. That scone recipe still anchors a counter now full of muffins, custom cakes, cupcakes, and a fresh juice bar, all made on site daily.
