Nashville-style hot chicken is having a serious moment right now, and chef Shawn Davis (nickname: Chef Big Shake) is frying up the real deal. The Long Island, New York-born chef has been cooking since he was 12, and after an appearance on “Shark Tank” he was inspired to open Big Shake’s, which has two locations in Tennessee and one in Alabama.
Big Shake’s original recipe fried chicken is delicious enough to stand on its own, but when seasoned with his proprietary blend of hot herbs and spices, it’s kicked up into the stratosphere. It’s available with no heat, mildly spicy (CryBaby) or hot (Rambo), and when teamed up with mac n cheese, green beans and a side of cornbread, it’s a true taste of the South.
