Growing up, Barb Batiste spent her weekends helping her mother cook for gatherings of her close-knit Filipino family. She founded B Sweet in 2009 in her home kitchen with one recipe – her famous Chocolate Chip Banana Bread – and it grew to become a popular catering operation, followed by two dessert trucks, followed by a brick-and-mortar dessert shop called B Sweet Dessert Bar. A self-taught chef, Barb remains true to her roots. She still works off many of her original handwritten recipes, and strives to create new recipes with old-fashioned flair.
