Fireman Derek's Bake Shop

The Hottest Pies in Miami

Fireman Derek’s Pies were legend among the firemen in Miami. One fireman, Patrick Murdock got his first taste of Derek’s pies during a Sunday dinner at the firehouse and fell instantly in love. Diagnosed with an enlarged heart and facing his final days, he had one wish—to partner with and help Derek launch his pie business. When Patrick passed away in 2013, Patrick’s wife Kim stepped in to make that dream a reality. And Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop was born.

Today, Derek still works two 24-hour shifts at Miami’s Firehouse 1. On his days off, he’s in his shop baking the amazing pies, cheesecakes, brownies and quiches that have everyone in Miami talking. One of his signature pies is the Salted Caramel ‘Krack’ Pie. Baked in an oatmeal cookie crust, this crowd favorite oozes with a thick, sticky salted caramel filling that melts in your mouth. If that doesn’t have you drooling, there’s Derek’s number one pick: the Key Lime Pie. Perfectly sweet and tart, this star dessert has Miami New Times “confidently claim as Miami’s best key lime pie.”

We're not the only ones who love them!

Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop has been featured in Miami New Times, Food Network, CBS, and Miami Herald.
