Byrd's Famous Cookies

A Southern Family Legacy Since 1924
In 1924, Benjamin Tillman “Pop” Byrd, Sr. began baking cookies in downtown Savannah, Georgia. Pop delivered them around town in his Model T Ford, sold at “2 for a penny” and quickly adored by locals. As demand grew, he converted a tin-sided barn into a larger bakery and christened it “Byrd’s Famous Cookies.” After World War II, his son “Cookie” Byrd, Jr. took over, continuing the family tradition and expanding into a new brick bakery in 1957. In 1988, Cookie’s daughter Kay and her husband Benny brought new life to the brand, packaging Byrd’s cookies in colorful 6-inch tins that became synonymous with Southern hospitality and cemented its reputation as one of the country’s great cookie companies.
Today, Byrd’s is run by fourth-generation CEO Stephanie Lindley, and Stephanie’s son Jamie is waiting in the wings. More than a century after its founding, Byrd’s Famous Cookies remains a family-led company dedicated to carrying on Pop’s legacy through signature cookies like Scotch Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip, and award-winning Key Lime Cooler — and they’re all shipping nationwide!
